Mohlala may assist investigations in Headman’s murder
MAGOBADING – In the latest developments following the shooting and killing of Magobading Village Headman, Setlamorago Thobejane (60), on Wednesday, 7 August afternoon, at his village under the Mecklenburg policing precinct, police are appealing for Surprise Mohlala (34) to avail himself at the nearest police station to help resolve the murder case.
Headman Thobejane and his daughter were walking to work and school respectively when suspects driving in a maroon Toyota Camry vehicle, without a registration number, allegedly approached them and fired several shots, fatally wounding the local headman before fleeing the scene.
He was taken to the nearest hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. A case of murder was opened at Mecklenburg police station and transferred to the Provincial Murder and Robbery Unit and the Provincial Tracking Team for further investigation.
Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, Limpopo Provincial Police spokesperson, informed that following the incident, three male suspects linked to the murder were arrested but the fourth suspect is still on the run. The police are appealing for Surprise Mohlala, whom it is believed that his presence can assist in the investigation and resolving of the gruesome killing of the headman, to avail himself.
The two arrested suspects in the matter, Karabo Maphanga (25) and Winter Phasha (40), appeared have since before the Moroke Periodical Court on 30 August. They were then remanded to custody until Monday, 10 September for formal bail application.
The suspects were arrested on 28 August at separate locations by members of the Provincial Tracking Team and Murder and Robbery Unit.
