SDM delegation extends China visit ties

The 21 delegation from Sekhukhune District Municipality (SDM) who are currently at Wenzhou in China, have started with energy from a long rest of Chinese National Holidays. This is after the Chinese Government dedicated seven days in commemorating Mao Zedong’s formal proclamation of the establishment of the People’s Republic of China on 1 October 1949.
Since last month, the SDM delegation is embarking on an exciting six months business exchange programme to promote relations with the People’s Republic of China.
The exchange programme focuses on enhancing cooperation through skills training related to local government, which will ultimately benefit municipal officials, unemployed graduates, and SMMEs.
The core objectives of this programme include investing in cities and local government, job creation, entrepreneurship, infrastructure development and societal and community development.
On Friday 11 October 2024, the team was afforded an opportunity by Zhejiang Vocational College of Industry and Trade to attend 2024 Wenzhou International Pump and Valve Exhibition.
The expo is held annually and highly regarded in the industry and attract a large number of professionals globally.
This year’s main focus of the expo is on the new generation of famous enterprises, new product on the market as well as technologies in pump, valve and pipe fittings industry.
The delegates were then granted an opportunity to interact with the industry owners to learn more about how they can improve their business sales and trade skills in the same industry.
The exhibition was attended by domestic and international business experts in the pump and valve supplier and repairs sectors.
Among others, were a proudly South African company, Mulbert Pump Repairs CC, which specialises in the supplying and repairing of gearboxes, electrical motors, panels, transformers and other equipment used for water and waste-water treatment plants and pump stations. The company operates in five provinces, which are, Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, Northwest, and Free State.
The delegates continued to appreciate the opportunity that was afforded to them by SDM and LGSeta through the business exchange programme with the Chinese.
