Maila satisfied with progress on Dresden road project
DRESDEN
Its all systems go in the community of Dresden as work has already begun on the 2,7km road project. The access road which is being built by the Fetakgomo Tubatse Local municipality is expected to be completed in a period of ten months.
The access road project, will see the access road being changed from gravel to asphalt.
After the contractors was handed over to the community in July, Fetakgomo Tubatse mayor, Cllr Eddie Maila made a surprise visit to the area to monitor the progress.
Maila said visits such as these are to ensure that contractor do not sleep on the job and thus miss the deadlines agreed upon.
“We came here to make sure that this community will receive this road within the allocated timelines especially with the approaching rainy season”
“As Fetakgomo Tubatse, ours is to make sure that we don’t rest until service delivery reaches all corners of the municipality”
The mayor also cautioned that where there are challenges, they should be escalated to his office and that communities must not be tempted to disrupt projects as this will impact on delivery. Workers were encouraged to be diligent in coming to work on time. As with many projects such as these, locals will also be empowered with employment opportunities.
The mayor was accompanied by members of the executive committee (Exco).
