SDM students captivate Chinese audience

A team of 21 students from Sekhukhune District Municipality (SDM), who are currently in skills exchange programme at the People’s Republic of China, have on Friday 27 September paid homage to Wenzhou HEC Fashion International Co. Ltd, as part of the skills development exposure to one of over 200 Wenzhou clothing industry, which contributes more than 30 billion yuan in Chinese’s economy.
Wenzhou HEC Fashion specialises in designing, producing and exporting fashion bags, belts, jewelleries, scarfs and fashion accessories across the world.
On Saturday 28 September 2024, the team proceeded to Longgang City in Wenzhou on an advanced business exchange programme.
Longgang was declared an economically and socially independent city in 2019 and is one of the fastest growing areas in the Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province.
The city specialises in packaging and printing industry such as Zhenjiang Treasure Crafts Co. Ltd and many others.
During the programme, the Sekhukhune delegation visited a company that supplies national certified high-tech metal to a variety of games such as the Olympics, Asian Games and many other sporting games across the world.
On Sunday evening, 29 September 2024, just 2 days before the National Holiday in China, the team joined Zhejiang Vocational College of Industry and Trade when they celebrated their 75th Anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
The entourage joined the opening ceremony that saw attendance of more than 5000 students of the class of 2024 from the Zhejiang Vocational College, including 21 students from Sekhukhune District.
The event was graced by Zhang Zhidong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the college, Yu Chuang, president of the college accompanied by their senior management team.
During the event, Sekhukhune team staged a world class performance with African heritage popular dances, ‘Jerusalema’, by Master KG and ‘Modimo ke sethakga’, by Pleasure Tša Manyalo.
