Chief Whip Nduli’s house gutted by fire
LEGOLANENG – The house belonging to Elias Mostsoaledi Local Municipality Council Chief Whip, Elias Nduli was destroyed in a fire incident which occurred in the early hours of Friday, 27 September morning.
The municipality has since confirmed that the council chief whip and his family members are unharmed following the incident.
Simon Makua, EMLM spokesperson, said Nduli and his family were reportedly asleep when the fire started inside the house that morning.
Makua indicated that the family members were awoken by a fog of smoke inside the house and managed to run outside before the fire broke that morning.
“The cause of the blaze is still unknown at this stage but investigations are ongoing. We are relieved to inform the public that despite the damage, Councillor Nduli and his family escaped unharmed and did not suffer any injuries,” stated Makua.
He informed that the cost of the damage is estimated at over R2m. Makua highlighted that the municipality is providing support for the family during this difficult period.
He said, “We have offered the family groceries, blankets and mattresses to help them temporarily. We have also arranged for psychological services after the incident. The municipality will continue to provide support for the family whenever it is needed. The fire gutted essential belongings of the Nduli family,” concluded Makua.
