A young local model from Riba Cross in Burgersfort is flying the Tubatse flag high, Chantel Riba (22), is the newly crowned Miss Excellency South Africa 2024. She was crowned at the magnificent Victory Theatre in Johannesburg on 14 September.
Chantel said her journey to the pageant was a challenging one.
“My Miss Excellency journey was one filled with challenges and lessons, but with the support of my family and friends, I remained hopeful. I held my head high until the last day. Thanks to each and every one who voted for me. It wouldn’t have been possible without your votes.”
Riba gave special thanks to her parents. “Both my parents were supportive and encouraged me to aim high. “
She also thanked her mentors at Sekhukhune Modelling and Pageantry Academy (SMPA) for preparing her to win the crown.
“Under the tutelage of the Sekhukhune Academy, I managed to grow into a better person,” she said as she applauded them for great work.
Someone else who had also prepared Riba was her fashion designer, Tercia Motau of Fashion Evolution Boutique.
“She made a huge impact on my pageantry journey. I showed up looking like a queen because of the work she had put into my garments.”
She said it was an honour to be flying the Tubatse flag higher at a national level. Next on Riba’s radar is to win the International Junior Miss South Africa, which will be held later this year.
