Moroka pleads for votes to win SATMA

Sepedi musician Hosea Phuti Malatji, known as Moroka of Praktiseer, has been nominated for the Best Sepedi Artist/Group award at the 2024 South African Traditional Music Awards (SATMA) for his song ‘Pese nkemele’.
The awards are scheduled to be held at Durban later this year. Moroka ’s nomination did not come as a surprise to many, as he always released and performed best Sepedi music.
He once again set the Sepedi music scene ablaze. The musician was in high spirits over his nomination. He said he felt humbled but at the same time confident that he would bring the award home.
“I thought the sun had set on me musically. I never thought I would be considered for this prestigious award. I am highly motivated now and very confident that, through your votes, I will bring the award home. This will be the highlight of my music career . Just to be nominated for this award is such a great achievement and a dream come true for me,” he said.
Apart from his music, Moroka possesses great knowledge of cultural matters. He urged locals to adhere to cultural practices and to listen to cultural music.
