Limpopo government to revive schools sports

POLOKWANE

In a quest to revive school sport in the province, the Limpopo education department’s MEC, Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya, and her counterpart for sports, arts and culture, Jerry Maseko, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on September 4.
It is aimed at delivering a sustainable integrated plan to give learners an opportunity to take part in an organised school sport programme through an accessible and implementable school system.
The MoU was developed to ensure that the optimal condition for a child’s participation in sport and recreation is one of the best investments Limpopo can make.
Both MECs witnessed Mamelodi Sundowns FC signing two Limpopo learners, Tshegofatso Mahlo and Tukisho Makola, for its U15 development academy. Tukisho hails from Riba Cross in Burgersfort and is currently doing Grade 10 at Calvin College. Tshegofatso is from Polokwane and attends Capricorn High School.
“Limpopo is proud of you boys. Massive congratulations to you on your great achievement,” said Maseko as he encouraged the two learners.
The two boys were spotted by the DStv champions’ scouts while playing for their schools in the Kay Motsepe Schools Championships in Polokwane on June 19.
