Mohlabane takes the helm as new IMSSA President

The Executive Mayor of Sekhukhune District Municipality (SDM), Cllr Minah Bahula, heartily congratulated Mr Stephen Mohlabane who was recently elected as the new President of the Inter-Municipal Sports of South Africa (IMSSA). Mohlabane is attached to the Office of the Executive Mayor in SDM.
IMSSA is a prominent organization that focuses on the management of Employee Physical Wellness Programmes for municipal employees across all provinces in South Africa.
The organization plays a vital role in promoting the well-being and productivity of municipal staff by encouraging physical wellness, social interaction, team building, stress management, and enhanced performance in the workplace.
In addition to its national impact, IMSSA is an affiliate member of the Southern Africa Inter-Municipal Sports Association (SAIMSA), which manages Employee Physical Wellness Programmes across the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) Region. Through these affiliations, IMSSA contributes to the broader goal of improving municipal employee’s health and productivity across Southern Africa.
As IMSSA President comes at an opportune time, as municipal employees from all nine provinces of South Africa are gearing up to participate in the 2024 IMSSA Employee Physical Wellness Programme.
This year’s event is scheduled to take place at the Buffalo City Metro Municipality in East London from 6 to 11October 2024.
The gathering will serve as a platform for fostering unity, competition, and wellness among municipal employees nationwide.
Speaking to the publication, Mohlabane said he was honoured to have been given the opportunity to lead such a big organization in the country.
Mohlabane said as the new president, he will prioritize the registration of IMSSA as a Non-Profit Organization.
“The priority of registering the organization will be made by a committee that will be established during our first national executive committee meeting,” he said.
Bahula said Mohlabane’s new role is a significant achievement, not only for him but also for the entire Sekhukhune District and South Africa as a whole.
“On behalf of the entire Sekhukhune District Municipality, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Mohlabane on his election and wishes the entire IMSSA National Executive Council (NEC) well in their endeavours to promote employee wellness and productivity throughout South Africa,” said Bahula.
