Riba Cross pool player to represent Mzansi in UK

Sello “Supercharge” Phala is gradually proving to locals that he is among the best pool players in the area. The man from Riba Cross has achieved another milestone. He will represent South Africa in the 2024 Blackball International World Championships/2024 Hawley Cup Championship. The competition will be held at Bridlington, United Kingdom from October 11-20.
Phala was on August 6, notified through a letter by President of Blackball South Africa, Vincent Pillay. Phala thanked his mentor and friend Master P, for guiding him in becoming one of the best players in Mzansi.
“He fine-tuned me in being one of the best players. He turned my game weaknesses into strengths .”
He added,“ I am now confident and enthusiastic to represent my country with pride. I am still willing to learn in order to achieve more in this game.”
According to Pillay, Blackball Championships is recognised by the World Pool Association (WPA) and is aligned to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and will be organised by Blackball International which is the world governing body for the pool discipline of blackball .
Pillay said about 53 members including players and officials will represent South Africa in the competition.
“We will go there to compete with our masters, females, men seniors, the under 15, 18 and 23.”
