SDM appoints Acting Executive Mayor

SEKHUKHUNE

The Sekhukhune District Municipality (SDM) has announced that it has recently appointed SDM Leader of Executive Business, MMC Cllr Kuki Sefala, as the Acting Executive Mayor of the district municipality.

SDM Spokesperson, Lemson Moropjane, said the decision has been made in light of the need to allow SDM Executive Mayor Cllr Minah Bahula, the time and space to grieve, following a difficult period that has befallen her family.

“The decision was taken following the passing of the uncle to the Executive Mayor Bahula, Mr Mahlophi Kgaphola who has sadly departed,” said Moropjane.

He added that the acting appointment of the interim executive mayor ensures the continuity of leadership and governance in the district, allowing municipal operations and services to proceed without disruption.

“The municipality remains committed to delivering on its mandate and serving the people of Sekhukhune during this period. MMC Sefala takes the reins effective from Monday 12 August to Tuesday 20 August 2024,” explained Moropjane.

Moropjane indicated that the district extend deepest sympathies to Executive Mayor Bahula and her family during this challenging time.
