Digital Hub to unlock potential entrepreneurial and innovative skills
Motetema
A group of community activists in Motetema, have taken an initiative for the establishment of the first Motetema Digital Hub, which will be housed within Motetema Community Hall.
A community leader, Solomon Mmatladi, told the publication that they decided to make use of Motetema Community Hall which has not been in use since its construction in 1997.
“We decided to open the digital hub because the hall premises have become a white elephant since 1997. The hub is envisage to unlock potential businesses and technical innovation among young people in Motetema and other surrounding villages,” he said.
Mmatladi said they have started with cleaning the community hall and have already secured donors who supports the initiative by buying them books.
“We are now raising funds to get window glasses, toilets and doors. Actually, we want to renovate the entire wall and paint it as well. In the coming few days we will be cleaning the outside part of the hall,” he said.
Mmatladi added that they are concerned that the community hall is now harbouring drug addicts and will end up being used for criminal activities.
“By converting the hall into a digital hub we will be preventing all these bad things to happen in our communities and instead, we want the establishment to enable aspiring entrepreneurs to unlock their full potential and unlock their dreams. This will be a central meeting point for a technology that will connect people with professional ideas and other relevant means,” he said.
Mmatladi indicated that no restrictions will be given to anyone who want to use the digital hub for good intentions.
“According to the plan, during its completion, the digital hub will accommodate individuals who want to hold business meetings which will at the end benefit our communities. Everyone who will want to utilize it on good purposes including workshops and other community development will be allowed in the premises,” he said.
