Dikgerekgere Wednesday expected to improve Limpopo’s roads
LIMPOPO
The Limpopo Premier, Dr Phophi Ramathuba, and the MEC for public works, roads and infrastructure, Ernest Rachoene, officially launched the Dikgerekgere Wednesday Service Delivery Programme in Ga-Mongalo Village on July 10.
This programme aims to revitalise the province’s road infrastructure through blading, regravelling and debushing. Ramathuba said given that most of these roads are gravel ones, this intervention is essential. She said this initiative ensures these roads remain in a good condition, free from potholes and safe for all road users.
“The maintenance of an integrated road infrastructure not only ensures safe road usage, but also facilitates socio-economic development in the province. That’s why we fully support this initiative by MEC Rachoene,” said Ramathuba.
She said the aim is to have pothole-free roads in Limpopo.
Rachoene said: “We are going to make sure we prioritise the roads to traditional authorities, to our gravesites, to our schools and our clinics.”
According to him, this programme will be launched in all five districts of Limpopo. In Sekhukhune, Dikgerekgere Wednesday will be launched on the D4225 in the Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality on July 31.
