Young entrepreneurs empowered during Limpopo Youth Tourism Summit

The Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA) has on Friday 28 June 2024, hosted over fifty young tourism entrepreneurs from all five districts of the province in the second Limpopo Youth Tourism Summit, following a successful one which was held in Burgersfort last year.

The summit aims to support young entrepreneurs with the purpose of ameliorating their entrepreneurial skills that will help grow their businesses.

The event has taken place against the backdrop of a successful Limpopo Youth Championship at Koro Creek Bushveld Golf Estate in Waterberg, where the young golfers displayed their golfing skills tournament.

The golfing tournament sought to build the province’s social cohesion as it involves male and female young golfers from all races and was a resounding success. A young female golfer, Tokollo Dlamini, emerged as the tournament winner.

Surprise Moshokwa, LTA spokesperson, said the agency will invite all young players for the 2025 edition of the Limpopo Championship, an annual international golf tournament held by LTA.

Moshokwa said LTA part of the event was the meet and greet session by the new MEC of Limpopo Economic Development, Environment and Tourism (LEDET), Mr. Tshitereke Matibe, to LTA Board and staff on the 26th June 2024, where he gave two clear directives.

In his address to staff, Matibe emphasized that the department will promote creation of jobs in the province making sure that Limpopo reclaims its number one spot as the most visited tourist destination in the country.

Matibe stressed that LEDET will also focus on the improvement of the state of provincial nature reserves.

“It is heartening that Limpopo Province is doing well again in the tourism space as the province has now again reclaimed its position as the number one most visited in the country. It is good news, but the entity will not relent to see this translated in a number of jobs as the leading sector in respect of a number of jobs it continues to create in the country and province in particular,” he said.

LTA CEO, Moses Ngobeni, said they wish to see young people grow big in the tourism sector thereby creating the most needed jobs for other young people thus making a dent in the reduction of triple challenges of poverty, unemployment and inequality in our province and a country as whole.

“We need to see the implementation of resolutions we took in the first summit in Sekhukhune last year as we create opportunities for young people to seize grow their businesses,” he said.

Moshokwa said LTA continues to invite travelers from all parts of the country and the world to take advantage of the warm winter temperatures in the province by visiting the enchanting Limpopo with its myriad of attractions including the three national parks such as Kruger, Mapungubwe and Marakele as well as many more provincial, municipal and private parks given the province’s unique and massive mega conservation offering.
