SDM Under-19 Netball Team gets much-needed donation

Groblersdal – The Executive Mayor of Sekhukhune District Municipality (SDM), Cllr Minah Bahula, has on Friday 5 July led the handing over of netball playing shoes to the Sekhukhune District Under-19 Netball team, a generous donation made by a local business, Shangwane Trading Business.

The young women of this team recently achieved an impressive fourth position in the Telkom National Netball Championships held at Hoerskool Waterkloof in Pretoria.

During the donation hand-over, Executive Mayor Bahula said she has committed to support the netball team because their dedication and hard work have brought pride to the district with their continued success.

Expressing her gratitude, Bahula stated: “We deeply appreciate the support from our business community. The sponsorship from Shangwane Trading Business is a testament to the positive impact local businesses can have on our youth and sports development”.

The executive mayor encouraged the players to continue working hard to improve their lives.

“Netball should be embraced and remains the pride of Sekhukhune District. The district must fully support this group of players as they strive for excellence,” she said.

Following the achievement, one standout player from the team has earned the opportunity to participate in the Under-21 national team trials at a young age, showcasing the exceptional talent present in the district.

Bahula said the Sekhukhune District Municipality remains committed to promoting sports and providing opportunities for its youth to excel, ensuring a brighter future for all.
