Dennilton young footballer joins the South African top flight team
Dennilton – Dennilton young talented soccer player, Lefa “Toy” Aphane, will be joining Dstv Premiership side Cape Town City FC in the 2024/2025 PSL Season.
The 22-year-old attacker, hailing from Waalkraal A in Dennilton, Moutse, will be leaving ABC Motsepe side, Tzaneen United FC after he signed with one of the biggest teams in the South African topflight football.
The Citizens have secured the signature of Aphane after beating out competition from Limpopo-based Polokwane City FC and Sekhukhune United FC.
The attacking midfielder who was playing for Tzaneen United in the 2023/2024 ABC Motsepe League, impressed Cape Town City Head Coach, Eric Tinkler and management during a trial in April 2024.
Tzaneen United owner, Dennus Mafologela, confirmed that Aphane has already signed a pre-contract with Cape Town City and was set to join the club on 26 June 2024.
Mafologela described Aphane as a disciplined player on the pitch and wished him well on his next football journey.
The signing was also confirmed by Aphane’s agent, Vincent Kobola of Tripple M agency, who stated that both Tinkler and Cape Town City owner, John Comitis, were impressed with the player.
Kobola revealed that Polokwane City and Sekhukhune United had shown interest in signing the 22-year-old star player but ultimately lost out to Cape Town City.
In a statement, the Tzaneen United FC had also sent their well wishes to Aphane in his future endeavour, adding that they are super proud of him for his contribution in the team.
