Community members concerned about hardships endured by Lesele family

LEBOENG

Neighbours of the Lesele family members in Leboeng Ward 1 of the Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality (FTLM) are concerned about their challenges and hardships.

This family consists of nine members, they all sleep in a two-roomed shack. The shack floors are unplastered and none of the family members are working. The shack is also without window glasses and frames.

They are in need of an RDP house and have seen other well equipped and financially stable families receiving such houses while they are ignored.

” I just don’t know which criteria is used to build RDPs but these people are really in need. It’s a tough situation for the family, some of the kids have no birth certificates and others have mental problems,” said a neighbour Penuel Mmopane.

He said the family was assisted by locals to apply for an RDP house in recent years  with no luck.

“As community members we are planning on engaging the FTLM and Limpopo’s co-operative governance, human settlements and traditional affairs (Coghsta) to speed up their RDP application.

“Some members of the Lesele family have no IDs, only one child  from the family receives the children’s social grant. They rely on money from the mother who sells besom brooms (traditional brooms). Because of their challenges, they sometimes sleep without food,” added Mmopani.

The Lesele family also asked Good Samaritans for donations such as food and clothing. Locals willing to assist the family can contact them on 082 353 4939 or 076 977 0882.
