SDM MMCs joins Provincial Legislature

SEKHUKHUNE

Following the conclusion of 2024 National and Provincial General Elections, the Sekhukhune District Municipality (SDM) has announced the vacancies created by the resignation of the member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC), Bellah Kupa who was MMC for Infrastructure and Water Services and Chief Whip of SDM Council, Councillor Choris Phokane, who have now been deployed by the ANC to serve in the provincial legislature.

Following their departure, the duo was sworn in as Members of the Provincial Legislature (MPLs) on Friday 14 June at the Limpopo Legislature in Lebowakgomo.

The Executive Mayor of SDM, Cllr Minah Bahula, has wished the two outstanding leaders well in their new responsibilities, adding that they served the district municipality with impeccable track records of service delivery and leadership.

“With every conclusion of elections comes different roles and new responsibilities for various leaders. We wish them well in their respective positions of responsibility and leadership and hope they will continue to serve the people of Limpopo with distinction,” said Executive Mayor Bahula.

The district municipality said it will soon announce the process for filling the vacant positions to ensure the continued delivery of services to the community and further details regarding the transition will be communicated in due course.
