FTLM tourism destinations gets a nod

The Director for Planning and Economic Development in Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality (FTLM), Serofe Mkhabela, hailed the stimulation of the Presidential Employment Stimulus Programme (PESP3), which aims to support economic development through tourism, creativity and cultural sectors.
Mkhabela remarked during the arrival of Queen Katrina Esau of the Bushmen Nation during her visit at Thaba Moshate Hotel Casino and Convention Resort recently.
Queen Katrina Esau, a revered figure among the Bushmen of the Kalahari, was welcomed with great admiration by Mkhabela, whose countenance reflected the significance of this momentous occasion.
“The Queen’s visit to Fetakgomo-Tubatse was a landmark event,” Mkhabela remarked, emphasizing the profound impact of Queen Katrina’s presence on the community. Her participation underscores our commitment to cultural preservation and tourism development,” said Mkhabela.
Mkhabela commended the activation of the Platinum Stream Tourism Route, which connects several municipalities in Limpopo and Mpumalanga and highlights the rich cultural and historical heritage of the Sekhukhune District.
“This route aims to invigorate local tourism, promote cultural heritage and create economic opportunities,” Mkhabela affirmed.
The PESP3 event, which included the activation of this tourism route, was a collaboration between Sekhukhune Community Television and the National Heritage Council.
The Sekhukhuneland Bushmen Friendship Market Project, funded under the PESP3 programme, was prioritized to promote heritage tourism and create heritage-aligned employment opportunities in the district municipality.
Under the PESP3 programme, Sekhukhune Community Television successfully mobilized 200 local young people and ZF Mgcawu District in the Northern Cape Province.
The initiative, which is part of the PESP3, aims to support economic development through the creative and cultural sectors.
Queen Katrina was delighted by Mkhabela’s warm reception and humility during their encounter.
The Queen’s joy and appreciation highlighted the success of the event and the positive impact of such cultural exchanges on fostering mutual respect and understanding.
Mkhabela’s tribute to Queen Katrina Esau did not only honour the Bushmen Queen, but also underscored the importance of cultural preservation in promoting tourism and economic development within the Sekhukhune District.
