Makgata appointed as new EMLM Municipal Manager
GROBLERSDAL – The Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality (EMLM) Council has appointed Namudi Reginah Makgata as the new Municipal Manager (MM).
The council resolved to appoint Makgata on a three-year fixed term basis commencing on 3 June as the accounting officer during a sitting on May 17 at the municipal chamber in Groblersdal.
Makgata boasts a vast 13-years worth of experience in local government sphere at senior management level.
She was Executive Director: Technical and Infrastructure Services during the period 2021 and 2024 at the Steve Tshwete Local Municipality, Senior Manager: Infrastructure between 2017 and 2021 at Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality and Senior Manager: Infrastructure at Waterberg District Municipality between 2013 and 2017.
Makgata possesses a B Tech Degree in Urban Engineering, Bachelor of Science Honours in Applied Science (Transportation Planning) and a Masters in Civil Engineering from the University of Cape Town. In addition to her wealth of academic achievements, she also holds a Masters in Business Administration.
Mayor David Tladi said, “On behalf of council, I would like to welcome the newly appointed accounting officer into the municipality. I wish her all the best in her new responsibilities with the hope and belief that she will help to move the municipality towards a clean audit opinion and better delivery of services to the communities.”
Makgata said her vision is to see a progressive and developed Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality which takes care of all community needs and their well-being.
“I would like to thank council for entrusting me with this role as well as Mr. Mohlala for holding the fort as the acting Municipal Manager. I hope to plough back by working with staff members, councilors and community members to bring back the municipality to its glory,” highlighted Makgata.
She further said that she would ensure that the staff is committed to serve the residents of Elias Motsoaledi and that service delivery would remain a priority and could not be compromised by selfish interests.
