Thirteen perish during R521 road accident

ENKELBOSCH FARM – Thirteen people lost their lives following an accident which occurred on the R521 road near the Enkelbosch Farm outside Polokwane within the Capricorn district on Tuesday, 28 May morning at about 05:50.

The Department of Transport and Community Safety confirmed that 13 people perished on the scene including two drivers and eleven passengers from a Toyota minibus.

According to reports, a Hyundai heavy motor vehicle collided head-on with an oncoming Toyota minibus. Lack of visibility has been cited as the possible cause of the accident, as it was reportedly misty at the time of the accident.

Limpopo MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Florence Radzilani has sent messages of condolences to the bereaved families.

MEC Radzilani engaged with the bereaved families who had come to the scene and relayed messages of condolences on behalf of Limpopo provincial government.

She called on motorists to take extra precautions as they travel, especially during the early hours of the morning. The deceased are teachers at various schools in the Senwabarwana area, an Eskom worker and the driver of the truck and that of the Toyota minibus.
