Tourism Indaba delegation flies Sekhukhune flag high at international stage
MOGORWANE – A strong and competent delegation from Sekhukhune district converged at Boiketlong Lodge in Mogorwane Village on Friday, 10 May where they were bid farewell ahead of attending an annual tourism Mecca in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.
Sekhukhune District Municipality Executive Mayor, Minah Bahula, extended her heartfelt well wishes to the delegates who started participating in the Annual Tourism Indaba from 13 to 16 May.
Executive Mayor Bahula emphasized the importance of making tourism inclusive for all, with a specific focus on positioning Sekhukhune district as a premier tourism destination.
Bahula highlighted the crucial role of Small Micro and Medium Enterprises (SMME)s in this endeavor, recognizing their efforts in collaboration with the government to address the triple challenges of unemployment, poverty, and inequality in our communities.
She further reiterated the significance of celebrating the diversity and beauty of Sekhukhune land, urging delegates to proudly showcase the district’s offerings to tourism enthusiasts.
Lemson Moropjane, SDM spokesperson, said that with an array of attractions and experiences for every traveler, Sekhukhune district promises an enriching journey for all who visits.
Sekhukhune District Tourism Association Chairperson, Jimmy Maboko and his executive committee, expressed their gratitude to Bahula, for her support in showcasing their (SMME)s on the international stage after years of unsupported tourism efforts. Established in February 2022 at Sir Paul Guesthouse, the association celebrates the fruition of their patience.
“We pledge to represent our district with discipline and honour, endeavoring to bring business opportunities back home. Additionally, we acknowledge the executive mayor’s commitment to providing platforms such as these for us to be able to engage in conversations and also give feedback exercise on upcoming important trade shows,” indicated Maboko.
Bahula stressed on the importance of collaboration with Sekhukhune Tourism Agency and other stakeholders to achieve the shared objectives in the tourism sector.
The mayor emphasizes the rich history of tourism and cultural heritage sites in the district, that hold immense potential for boosting the tourism economy.
Bahula encouraged the delegates to raise the Sekhukhune flag high and contribute to the success of the tourism event, ultimately driving positive growth and development in the district.
