631 suspects arrested for various crimes in Limpopo
SEKHUKHUNE – In an effort to combat crime and ensure public safety, the Limpopo SAPS arrested 631 suspects and recovered three firearms and 13 live rounds of ammunition.
These successes was made during the high-density Operation Shanela. The operation was carried out from May 6 until May 12, in collaboration with various law enforcement agencies. It targeted crime hotspots and individuals involved in criminal activities.
The suspects were arrested for crimes ranging from murder, attempted murder, robbery, assault, carjacking, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, and possession of suspected stolen properties.
Police also confiscated two stolen motor vehicles, 1 122 counterfeit goods, 126 litres of alcohol and various types of drugs.
The Limpopo SAPS commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, is delighted about the successes achieved.
“The recovery of these firearms underscores the importance of proactive policing measures in preventing violent crimes and protecting the community from harm,” she said.
She highlighted that the success achieved during these operations serve as a clear message to criminals that their unlawful activities will not be tolerated, and the police officers will continue to pursue them with unwavering determination.
The arrested suspects will appear in various courts in Limpopo this week.
