Two killed in separate incidents, police search for suspects
LEBOWAKGOMO – The Provincial Commissioner of South African Police Service (SAPS) in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has condemned the killing of an unknown man in a mob justice related incident at Mamaolo Village, Matsepeng Section on Monday, 8 April.
Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba, Limpopo Provincial Police spokesperson, informed that police were alerted about the mob justice incident and upon arrival at the scene, they discovered a man lying down in one of the yards in the village, with multiple injuries, and his hands tied with a wire robe.
Mashaba said the police untied him and he was swiftly transported to the nearest hospital for medical attention, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
General Hadebe has ordered for an immediate probe into the murder. Police opened a case of murder. “Vigilantism is strongly condemned. No person may assault or kill a person if they suspect that the person might be guilty of a crime. Thus, we kindly ask communities to abstain from such crimes. Those who do so will face severe consequences from the law,” indicated Hadebe.

Meanwhile, police have launched a manhunt for the suspect(s) involved in the murder of a 27 year-old male at Lebowakgomo Zone F taxi rank on Saturday, 6 April at about 19:10.
According to police, they received a complaint about a victim who was reportedly lying on the ground and upon arrival at the scene, a male victim with severe injuries of stabbing on his left chest and on his head found.
Mashaba said members of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were summoned and the victim was pronounced dead. The deceased’s identity will be released in due course.
He stated that the motive of the horrific incident is unknown at this stage and that police are appealing to members of community to assist with information about the incident.
General Hadebe has expressed her unequivocal condemnation of the incident. She further urged the community to work together with the police in providing information regarding the suspects involved in the senseless killing.
