Bakkie found loaded with illegal mining equipment at Phokathaba

 The SAPS in Sekhukhune through Operation Vala Umgodi recovered a suspected stolen motor vehicle on Thursday at Phokathaba illegal mining sites outside Burgersfort.
The vehicle, a white Ford Ranger, with Mpumalanga Province registration was found at about 04:00, it was fully loaded with scrap metals.
“It is reported that a multidisciplinary forces comprising SAPS National Intervention Unit and the South African National Defence Force conducted a waylay approach to operation and subsequently recovered a suspected stolen motor vehicle and numerous mining equipment ,including six generators, jackhammers, shovels, electrical cables, wheelbarrows, hammers and and garden forks abandoned,” said Limpopo SAPS spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba.
He said SAPS investigations are underway to establish circumstances surrounding the recovery and the origin of the Ford Ranger .Anyone with information that could assist police in this case may contact the Mecklenburg SAPS on 015-6190 -204.
