Mayor Moimana lauds MPAC performance

MARBLE HALL – Ephraim Mogale Local Municipality (EPMLM) Mayor, Given Moimana expressed pride in the institution’s Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC)’s performance, affirming its status as the top-performing committee in the province.

With an unqualified status achieved in the previous financial year, Mayor Moimana conveyed optimism about the municipality’s trajectory towards obtaining a clean audit in the near future.

Ephraim Mogale Local Municipality convened  the vital public hearing at the Municipal Town Hall, led by the MPAC Chairperson, Thabiso Mabaso, and fellow committee members on Tuesday, 19 March.

Themed “The Road to a Clean Audit,” the hearing signified a dedicated effort to enhance governance, transparency, and accountability in the management of public resources, aligning with the mandates of Section 79(A) of the Municipal Structures Act and Section 160 Subsection 7 of the Constitution.

Percy Moagi, EPMLM Communications Manager, said the session witnessed the participation of esteemed dignitaries, Council Speaker Rebecca Lentsoane, Council Whip Lina Magane, Exco members, ward councillors, Municipal Manager Mr. Mogobadi Moropa, senior departmental managers, and members of the public.

“Such diverse representation highlights the municipality’s commitment to inclusive decision-making and public involvement. During the session, MPAC committee members posed pertinent questions, with responses provided by Executive Committee members under the guidance of Mayor Moimana. This collaborative exchange exemplifies the municipality’s commitment to transparency and constructive dialogue in the decision-making process,” explained Moagi.
