Ga-Phaahla service delivery challenges assessed
GA-PHAAHLA – The Phaahla Traditional Council, under the leadership of Kgoshi Letsiri Phaahla, met with Sekhukhune District Municipality Executive Mayor, Minah Bahula and members of the mayoral committee at Ga-Phaahla Village to engage on service delivery issues affecting the area.
Lemson Moropjane, SDM head of communications, said the meeting, held in continuation of previous engagements, aimed to address and expedite essential service delivery projects, notably focusing on water infrastructure projects.
Moropjane indicated that during the discussions, the council of Kgoshi Phaahla articulated various concerns, foremost among them being the necessity for fencing of borehole projects to ensure their security.
“Additionally, concerns regarding lack of adequate sanitation infrastructure were also raised. In response to these pressing issues, Executive Mayor Bahula committed to thoroughly investigate all raised concerns and to expedite their resolution,” added Moropjane.
He informed that a team of repairs and maintenance will be deployed to Mohlakeng Water Treatment Plant for a week to assess and address existing challenges, ensuring that the provision of clean and portable water to the community is attained
Bahula pledged to accelerate the borehole programme, extending construction to all Magoshi within the district.
According to the municipality, the strategic initiative aims to facilitate easier access to water for communities across the district. The municipality stated that a panel of contractors for the programme will be announced in the next weeks.
Bahula, as a gesture of appreciation of the leadership role played by Kgoshi Letsiri Phaahla within the community, presented 100 chairs to the traditional authority.
She emphasized the municipality’s unwavering commitment to improving the quality of life for all residents of Sekhukhune district and stressed on the importance of collaborative efforts between traditional authorities and local government in achieving developmental goals.
