Family rescued after nurse intervention
BOTHASHOEK
It’s these days a norm for Sister Lebogang Mmotong to assist patients, even those out of hospital and clinics. Mmotong, who is a community nurse at Phiring Clinic has assisted a needy Mkhawane family at Bothashoek B1.
“We learnt that a 13-year-old child was taking care of her three siblings, with the youngest being only two years old.
“Her mother is currently admitted at a nearby hospital. The Grade 8 learner was unable to attend classes at Mmiditsi as she had to take care of the little baby and her two siblings,” revealed the health care worker.
Mmotong visited the family, engaged relatives, social workers and local committees at the village.
“As we speak, the kids are back at school and the two-year-old child is in the care of the relatives, we have also arranged immunization and clinic cards for the younger ones.”
She thanked the Good Samaritans who also donated the family some groceries.
A family relative, Karabo Mkhawane thanked Mmotong, the local community, and the donors for lending a helping hand.
“We are relieved after this good gesture from the caring community members.”
As a community nurse, Lebogang Mmotong served the communities in and around Praktiseer between 2012 and 2021. In 2018, she was voted by the locals as the best nurse at the Praktiseer Clinic.
