Ephraim Mogale shares information on upcoming SANNRAL projects with SMMEs
MARBLE HALL – Ephraim Mogale Local Municipality (EPMLM) hosted the local Small Medium and Micro Enterprises in an engagement regarding SANRAL projects within the vicinity of the local municipality on Friday, 8 March.
Percy Moagi, EPMLM Communications Manager, said the main aim of the engagement was to share and introduce to the local SMMEs, projects that SANRAL will be implementing within the confines of the EPMLM.
Moagi indicated that part of the meeting was also to engage the SMMEs on the opportunities that they would benefit from the projects.
Acting on behalf of Mayor Given Moimana, member of the Executive Committee, Eunice Tshiguvho, presented on the three upcoming projects.
She was joined by Council Speaker, Rebecca Lentsoane, Chief Whip Lina Magane, and Municipal Manager Mogobadi Moropa among other dignitaries.
The three projects include the R573 Moloto Road project from Toitskraal to Marble Hall. Moagi informed that Edwin Construction is the appointed contractor for the project which is set to start in May 2024 for 18 months. The project is 20.3km with the value of R419 million.
The other project mentioned was the rehabilitation of the N11 from Marble Hall to Groblersdal. The project is 29km with the value of R500 million and set to begin in October 2024 for 28 months. The contractor on the project has not yet been appointed.
Also, was the upgrading of the D2919 Road, from gravel to tar, beginning at Tshikanoshi Village to Malebitsa Village. The project, covering 16km, is valued at R150 million and is expected to commence in May 2024 for a duration of 15 months.
EPMLM highlighted that it expects maximum participation and full cooperation from SMMEs and for them to refrain from illegal activities that will halt the projects.
Municipal Manager Moropa stated that the municipality is duty-bound to protect SMMEs from exploitation in any form.
Communications Manager Moagi further said that a meeting with the appointed contractor on the R573 Moloto Road project and SMMEs is set to be announced.
The SMMEs praised the municipality for organising the valuable information sharing meeting with them.
