Matalane Mokgatla unveiled TUPS Sporting Code Ambassador

Tafelkop

The Thavhancle Ultra-Physio Sport (TUPS), which is Limpopo’s home-grown sporting code invented at Marulaneng Village outside Jane Furse, has officially unveiled its brand ambassador, Matalane Mokgatla, in a series of activities held during the February month in various parts of Limpopo.

Mokgatla, who is a well-known poet countrywide, has been unveiled as the sporting code’s brand ambassador, fitness enthusiast and heritage activist.

His official unveiling started on his birthday at the Mponi TUPS Club in Tafelkop Village outside Groblersdal, Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality (EMLM) on Friday 16 February. The Tafelkop unveiling was leaded by Mponi Makua of Mponi Talent Agency.

The second unveiling activation was held at Polokwane on Thursday 22 February where Mokgatla spent the day with intellectually impaired TUPS players from Horizon School of Intellectually Impaired in Polokwane.

The third unveiling was conducted at Mafefe Village on Sunday 25 February where Mokgatla was also presented with an opportunity to celebrate his special month with TUPS family.

According to the TUPS Global President and inventor, Puleng Mmotla, the unvaling celebrations in Tafelkop, Polokwane and Mafefe, presented an opportunity for Mokgatla to celebrate his birthday month with TUPS family.

“We chose the month of February 2024 to unveil Matalane Mokgatla as the brand ambassador mainly because it is his birth month. We wanted to ensure the relationship with our brand ambassador is not just transactional but meaningful and mutually nourished by us recognising his need to be renowned for his contribution to our movement and society,” explained Mmotla.

He said he is happy that this is an indication that the sporting code is growing in leaps and bounds.

Mmotla hinted that there are many tasks that Matalane Mokgatla will be performing in his role as brand ambassador and that the focus for now is for Matalane to perfect his skills as a Tups player.

“Matalane is an asset to TUPS family, he is a brilliant choice for an ambassador because our brand does not only associate with him for increasing awareness but for his counsel and dependable advises. Our next move is the re-launch of TUPS Sport Federation Gauteng in March 2024, whilst still waiting for a confirmation by Gauteng Sports Confederation and SASCOC President Barry Hendricks to whom the sporting code will be displayed as part of the ‘LastPushToSASCOC’ Campaign,” Mmotla concluded.

In reflecting on his birth month and a series of celebrations organised by TUPS, Mokgatla indicated that though the biggest celebration was organised in Tafelkop at Mponi Tups Club led by Mponi Makua of Mponi Talent Agency, the one closest to his heart was spending a day with intellectually impaired TUPS players from Horizon School of Intellectually Impaired in Polokwane on 22 February 2024.

“Spending the day with learners with special educational needs was very fulfilling to me. Gabotse ke rata bana kudu (I have dedicated my love to children), I draw a lot of strength from them. They inspire me to work tirelessly because I do not have the barriers and prejudices they are faced with daily. I am very grateful to Mme Reggie Mabitsela and Mme Rocky Makgoka for playing TUPS with me and sharing my birthday charity game. Even though I lost to Mme Rocky’s team, I really enjoyed that blessed moment,” said Mokgatla.
