ANC retains EPMLM Ward 1

The African National Congress (ANC) has managed to retain Ephraim Mogale Local Municipality Ward 1 after by-election that took place on Wednesday the 8th of November 2023 at Malebitsa and Driefontein Villages.
ANC candidate Solly Solomon Rabalago was announced as the incoming ward councillor following the closely contested election, which also saw the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and the Bolsheviks Party of South Africa (BPSA) participating.
In the election, the ruling party received 62%, Eff followed with 36% BPSA is last with only 2% of voters.
EPMLM Ward 1 became vacant after the passing of then councillor Frans Mello who died in August 2023.
Provincial Secretary of the ANC in Limpopo, Reuben Madadzhe, said the party has welcomed the election results, adding that they reflect a good image of the organization in the community of EPMLM Ward 1.
“Securing 62.3% of the vote, the ANC is deeply appreciative of the support from the people of ward 1, who turned out in great numbers to rally behind the African National Congress. These results serve as a testament to the fact that the ANC remains the unwavering beacon of hope for the people of Limpopo and, indeed, for all of South Africa,” he said.
Madadzhe added that the ANC Limpopo expresses it appreciation to all its structures , the leagues and the alliance structures, deployees , leaders at all levels and especially the dedicated members and volunteers who contributed to successful results.
He said the ANC in Limpopo acknowledges the profound trust the people continuously place in the party.
“We do not take for granted the continued support and commit to redouble our efforts to bolster the capacity of local government, ensuring faster and more efficient service delivery,” said Madadzhe.
