Pastor Mosoana reaches out to underprivileged pupils
Apel
Community activist, Pastor Derrick Mosoana, has embarked on a social responsibility and donated twenty new pairs of school shoes to learners at Madithame Primary in Apel outside Jane Furse.
Mosoana handed-over the donation to deserving pupils on Tuesday 26 September at the schools’ premises. The donation was made through the ‘Ke Tlotso Community Care Centre’, a Non-Government Organization (NGO) founded by Mosoana a few years ago.
Mosoana, who is also Chairperson of School Governing Body (SGB) in the same school, said he decided to give to the underprivileged to make a difference at his community.
“While others are hard at work trying to destroy me, I am here today giving out to the people. Today I gave away 20 school shoes to the learners at Madithame,” he said.
Mosoana said he made the donation from his personal funds which he normally does to assist disadvantaged pupils at the school and in the community.
He said the 20 beneficiaries were identified with the help of the teachers targeting the neediest learners at the school.
“My ideal objective is to look at the well-being of the orphans, marginalised and poor communities at large to make a difference in people’s lives,” he said.
Through the NGO, Mosoana recently donated food parcels, blankets to the elderly citizens and groceries to needy families.
“I don’t have a specific programme when giving to the people. I donate as per demand and needs of the community. If there is a need for me to partner with a funeral parlour in order to make a dignified funeral for one of the community members I do that. I donate as per the required needs of the community,” he said.
Madithame School Principal, CM Maimela, acknowledged the donation appreciating the good work the centre has done to needy learners at the school.
“We would like to thank Mosoana for the good efforts he has done and are very grateful for the impressive work he has done for our school,” said Maimela.
