Traffic Officer linked to girlfriend’s murder appears in court
LEBOWAKGOMO – Kabelo Peter Duba (34), a Limpopo Traffic Officer arrested for allegedly killing his girlfriend, appeared before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 04 September 2023 and the matter was postponed to 15 September for formal bail application and further investigations.
Duba is facing charges of murder, unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, theft of the deceased’s cellphone and defeating the ends of justice.
The traffic officer, attached to the Polokwane Provincial Traffic, was arrested on Thursday, 24 August at his homestead in Penina Park, Polokwane by members of the Provincial Murder and Robbery and Tracking Team.
His arrest came after he was positively linked to an incident in which the body of a woman was found dumped under a bridge at Chueniespoort within the Lebowakgomo policing precinct on Thursday, 17 August.
During his arrest, police recovered an unlicensed firearm with ammunition as well as some exhibits. The woman was later identified as 26 year-old Kedidimetse Moche who was a student at the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) Polokwane Campus.
