MCT updates Marula Four Farms on local development

Marula Community Trust (MCT)’s desire to improve local communities was intensified when they held a meeting on 18 July at Rufaro Lodge in Burgersfort. Joining the meeting was the MCT trustees as well as Marula Four Farms Business Forum.

Several issues were discussed aiming to improve communities surrounding Marula Platinum Mine.

“There are so many projects earmarked for the local communities, in the upcoming months we are planning to fence our local cemeteries and also build toilets at the graveyards.

“We will soon advertise for these business opportunities, so that local businesses in the four farms can grab these opportunities,” said MCT chairperson Jackson Nyalungu.

According to Nyalungu, the meeting was to update the communities about future projects and also completed projects by the MCT.

“We are aiming to invest in roads, education, access to clean water and other services that are needed by locals.”

He said 49 projects will be orchestrated in the four farms in the upcoming months. “There might be delays as some of the projects we need approval from government while others we can do them without any approval.  When building schools, we have to follow government structures and this can cause delays.”

Representing, Marula Four Farms Business Forum was Charles Selahle, he said they were satisfied with the presentation done by the MCT and was pleased with the success from MCT.

“We have resolved all the challenges we had with them and we believe and trust they will succeed in completing their projects and handover them to our needy communities.”

He reiterated that they were happy with what the MCT has done so far.  “The contributions done so far shows they can succeed in developing our farms.”

He added, “We plead for openness and zero corruption in the MCT so that local communities can prosper and improve.”

Nyalungu once again pleaded for support from local communities.

“With your support, we will ensure most of the projects are completed and our community improves. As MCT we are against any corruption and we appreciate the smooth running of projects.”
