Girl learners get sanitary towels
TAFELKOP – Despite all the challenges, a 29 year-old woman from Makgane in Ga-Makgeru Village remains committed to ensuring that young girls in local school do not go without sanitary towels.
The woman, Rejoice Mohlala says the initiative to help the young school girls with sanitary towels dates back to June 2021.
Mohlala said her last donation to the rural schools was in March this year due to lack of sponsorship which impacted negatively on the project.
“On Friday, 11 November 2022, I was at Mailanong Matsepe Primary in Tafelkop to see to it that learners there also get sanitary towels and not miss classes because of lack of them. Despite the sponsorship challenges were are currently facing, we are happy about the project and feel blessed with the power to help the needy young girls. I was hoping to get someone to work with and God answered my prayers and brought Elizabeth Lukhele who is from Tafelkop. She is dedicated to the course and through her efforts, I believe this initiative will grow to cover more schools,” said Mohlala.
Mohlala indicates that her latest donation was a challenge, with an eight months gap between March and November this year.
“But I told myself that I am going to make it and am not about to give up what I have started to help these young girls,” further said Mohlala.
She said that at Mailanong Matsepe Primary School, they had 35 Grade7 girl learners and selected from Grade 5 and 6, 19 in number.
“So for Grade 7 learners, we gave them 2 packs each and for the selected Grade 5 and 6, we gave them a pack each. In total we distributed 87 sanitary towels. My wish is to find a sponsor so that we can reach out to many more out there in need of our help,” concluded Mohlala.
The learners expressed their gratitude to the organizers and said the donation would go a long way in ensuring they didn’t miss classes.
