Lepelle Nkumbi local Municipality welcomes new Municipal Manager

Lepelle-Nkumpi Local Municipality (LNM) has welcomed the appointed of Morongwe Adelaide Monyepao as its new Municipal Manager (MM).
LNM Council approved her appointment on a five-year contract during its sitting on the August 27th.
Newly appointed MM takes over the reins from Khomotjo Mankga, who was steering the administrative arm of the Municipality in an acting capacity since September 2021 and will henceforth fully return to her Chief Financial Officer position.
LNM Mayor Meriam Molala has also welcomed the appointment of new MM.
“We urge all the Executive Managers to support our new MM as it is a team effort to serve Lepelle-Nkumpi communities”, said Molala.
The municipality said Monyepao is not new to Lepelle-Nkumpi, as she served as Executive Manager of Planning and Local Economic Development (LED) between March 2018 and January 2019.
Her recent role before rejoining LNM was a short stint (July 2022- September 2022) as Director of Planning at Mopani District Municipality while prior to that she was employed as Executive Director of Development Planning at Emalahleni Local Municipality (ELM) during January 2019- June 2022
She was acting Municipal Manager at Fetakgomo-Tubatse Local Municipality (FTLM) from May 2013 to August 2014, during her stint as Director of Development Planning, August 2012-July 2017.
Monyepao was also senior manager in Strategy, Planning and Economic Development at Capricorn District Municipality, November 2010-July 2012.
Not only that, she even served as Director of Development Planning at Sekhukhune District Municipality, January 2006-November 2010.
“I would like to appreciate the opportunity given to me by Council to lead the administration of the Municipality. I always believe a good Municipality is always community focused. As municipal officials, we have a responsibility to serve communities with the best quality of services.
“I am excited to undertake my duties to upscale service delivery and achieve the objectives of Council. As a collective we need to ensure that LNM strive for a clean audit finding with sound governance and excellent service delivery” said Monyepao.
“We must ensure that we continue to deliver effective and efficient services, maintain an ethical and corruption free administration, and foster good relations with our local and provincial stakeholders,” she said.
Her career spans over twenty-six years, with about twenty-two of which is in senior management within local government.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (University of Limpopo), Bachelor of Arts Honors in Development Studies (University of Limpopo), Masters in Town and Regional Planning (University of Pretoria) and currently studying towards a Masters in Real Estate (University of Pretoria).
Monyepao has further completed the Municipal Finance Management Programme (MFMP) in line with the Municipal Minimum Competency Levels set out by the National Treasury, and courses on project management and performance management in a South African Municipality.
