Husband kills wife, daughter and alleged boyfriend at Dithabaneng.
BOTHASHOEK
A seemingly disappointed Limpopo SAPS Commissioner Lt Gen Thembi Hadebe has once again urged men to stop resorting to violence in domestic disputes.
Hadebe issued a stern warning after a 58 year- old man from Bothashoek in Burgersfort allegedly shot and killed his wife, daughter and alleged boyfriend.
The triple murders occurred at the Dithabaneng Section on Monday evening.
“Police were called to the scene by community members at about 23:00. Upon arrival, they discovered three lifeless bodies of two females and a male with gunshot wounds. The suspect was later traced and arrested,” said Limpopo SAPS spokesman Brig Motlafelo Mojapelo.
“The deceased were identified as Themina Clara Morema aged 42, her daughter Nomasonto Morema aged 24 and the man’s identity is still unknown,” added Mojapelo.
The suspect appeared before the Praktiseer Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday (September 28).
Details of the court proceedings were not available at the time of going to press. An update on this matter will be provided in the upcoming issue of Sekhukhune Times.
Hadebe described the incident as horrific.
“The incident is horrific and shocking. We urge community members to seek help when they encounter domestic challenges and desist from resorting to extreme violence.”
According to the SAPS, the motive for the incident is unknown at this stage but domestic violence cannot be ruled out.
Police are currently investigating three counts of murder.
