She reigns behind the business
Schoonoord
Being a queen or king is not something we apply for or maybe buy in the stores, that is what I always tell people. You can be a queen or king of your calibre, reign and walk with pride without any doubt.
Naum Mmamaro (29) is the queen in business and is proudly the founder and director of Naum Kwena (Pty) Ltd which is based in Schoonoord in the outskirt of Jane Furse in Limpopo Province.
She was born and bred in Leolo, Mabule Village. One can argue that in a place with no resources and better infrastructure, where there is no network, produced and raised the star, we see her being active, but her background did not determine her future. Naum started her business in 2019 when at the age of 26 and this was after receiving funding from the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA).
“Honestly speaking I feel like being an entrepreneur is my calling, I’ve started selling snacks to my schoolmates during the break in primary school,” she said.
We are used to women doing usual business trades like selling in the street as vendors or doing door to door but with Naum, she decided to do a very unusual trade which we think is not something easy to handle.
“Going into detergent manufacturing business was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, I don’t even regret it.
Most of the time you’ll see dirty chairs in big offices, that’s exactly what encouraged me to start a cleaning company because I like the cleanest space,” she added, the business lady added that she is enjoying her time behind the business but it comes with its challenges.
One of them is when people fail to pay in time and by that time she would wish to purchase a machine or fill gaps in the factory. I always hear wise words that say big dreams should not be a problem to wish for.
With Naum, she is drawing her wishes behind employment, to have a big industry that manufactures more products and that will need more people, so more people will be employed.
Sister boss, Naum, saw a need to go to school where she did Financial Management in Sekhukhune TVET college and did the SBEP at the University of Johannesburg.
When you do good, people will give you good attention; you will be recognized and appreciated.
Naum is the epitome of success and a beacon of hope, anyone from a less privileged background can learn a thing or two from her hard work, she won the Mail & Guardian award because she said she likes to share the little that she has with people who need help.
In 2021, she was part of the people who helped the Mpogeng family to have a better place to stay. She was one of the volunteers who donated to disabilities centers whenever the opportunity arises. This year, 2022, she is in a team of donating school shoes for learners.
“To all young entrepreneurs, I say to them, be patient, love what you do, focus on your business, stop spending on unnecessary things, time to spend your money will come when the business grows.
It’s not easy to run a business, especially as a woman, I feel like men are taking advantage, I mean they would take some things at my shop and they will call you to come to their place to collect money which I feel it’s not safe for me,” Naum concluded,
Her life motto is “If an environment is clean, your mood will always be happy and you think clearly and creatively,”
Indeed, she reigns and she is a queen behind the business, we wish her happy days of entrepreneurship.
