Kgoshi Rammupudu pays courtesy to MCTMA winners

Kgoshi Boleu Rammupudu II, of Bakgaga Ba Kopa Tribal Authority in Tafelkop, has last week Thursday, paid homage to residence of Nthwaleng “Mantepe” Tlaka, to personally congratulate her for winning one of the big music awards in the country.
Tlaka, from Dikgalaopeng Village outside Groblersdal, recently won two Mzansi Traditional and Cultural Music Awards (MCTMA), in a prestigious event held at the Victory Theatre in Johannesburg.
The local artist scooped the MTCMA Best Sepedi Artist Award and her group, Ipopeng Cultural Group, won the 2nd Best Traditional Dance Group Award.
Tlaka was nominated and won an award with her solo Sepedi album titled: “Satma e tlile” for the Best Sepedi Artist category, while a group she co-founded, Ipopeng, was nominated and won the award in the Best Traditional Dance Group category.
Rammupudu said he wanted to personally congratulate the traditional artist for putting Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality (EMLM) and Sekhukhune District Municipality (SDM) in the map during the awards.
“After hearing the good news, I felt it was fitting for me to go and congratulate Mrs Tlaka and the group in person,” he said.
Rammupudu indicated that he was overwhelmed by Mantepe and Ipopeng’s performance when he was attending a provincial awarding ceremony event in Polokwane.
“I was happy that I joined the group on stage when they receive one of the biggest awards of the day and from there, I have realized that they are going places with what they are doing,” he said.
He said he is impressed that since Tlaka and the group got nominations in 2017, they managed to win all the awards in the categories they were nominated in.
“We are proud of Tlaka and her group. We wish them all the best in what they are doing and hope they will continue making us proud,” he said.
Tlaka appreciated the support of community leaders, adding that they play a vital role in supporting them throughout their journey and also helping in transportation to the events when they are in need.
“We have managed to bring home five awards to honour the efforts of Kgoshi Rammupudu and other people who support us in our music journey,” she said.
