The EFF condemn chaos descended in the FTLM
Burgersfort
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Limpopo said it condemns in the strongest possible terms, the wielding of artillery in the Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality (FTLM) council chambers by criminals deployed by municipal authorities.
The condemnation of the party follows the first municipal special council sitting which was held on August 22.
The EFF said the special sitting descended into a chaos and ultimately collapsed because of the anarchy caused by the ANC led administration.
The provincial spokesperson Titus Tshungu said the party noted with concern that it’s members were attacked, together with members of the public who were sitting in the gallery by bouncers who were acting on the instruction of the municipality.
“This occurred while the council was on a 30 minutes break, which was requested by EFF Caucus on the basis that there were no recording equipments, no microphones, and no lights in the chamber and that the Fourth Quarter Budget Performance Assessment Report for the 2021/22 financial year was incomplete,” said Tshungu.
“The EFF Caucus also sought to challenge the illegal appointment of the acting Municipal Manager, but they were met with violence and intimidation by bouncers who were heavily armed with weapons such as sjamboks, firearms and sharp objects,” he said.
Tshungu allege that a member of the public was severely beaten and injured on his right hand, leg and on the face.
He said as a result, EFF members are currently assisting the victim to open a case with the Burgersfort Police.
“The municipality has resorted to using armed forces to cover up its shenanigans, having said that the EFF is resolute and will not backtrack in holding the corrupt ANC accountable,” he concluded.
