The EFF in LNM to boycott virtual meetings

Lebowakgomo

The official opposition party in Limpopo said it notes with shock and disappointment, the continuation of virtual meetings by the Lepelle Nkumpi Local Municipality (LNM).

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) said the current COVID-19 regulations do not necessarily restrict any municipality to conduct community outreach.

“We condemn the speaker’s decision to conduct virtual meetings as it is against the collective declaration of the council, which allows the municipality to engage with the community on the ground than pretending to be addressing issues remotely,” said Titus Tshungu, the EFF spokesperson in the province.

“We further reiterate our disappointment on how the process of ward committee elections were conducted in the community. The elections of ward committee members were not procedurally conducted,” he said.

Tshungu said the EFF stands in solidarity with the people as they are raising their frustration on how the ANC government has been undemocratic and stealing the people’s votes.

“The ANC is used to doing this, but now its days are numbered because the mighty EFF is here and such tendencies are going to stop.

“The EFF in Lepelle-Nkumpi is not going to attend the virtual meeting until they reverse undemocratic and unilateral decisions,” explained Tshungu.

“We are going to picket against this decision to distant municipal function from ordinary people until our demands are heard.” he concluded.
