BURGERSFORT
For years complaints have been received from residents in the Burgersfort CBD regarding unresolved sewage leaks and a pungent smell emanating from the drains.
On Wednesday, EFF in Sekhukhune closed down gates leading to some shops in the town CBD.
Party members said they are fed up of the ill treatment from government and they want people to be taken serius.
” The situation has been going on for years. The sewage and water leaks are a big problem in Burgersfort. We will shut down the town, unless the leakages are fixed.
“The stench of raw sewage is unconducive to serving food, and shoppers will be infected by diseases,” said the angry protesters.
Most shops that were affected included restaurants, pharmaceutical companies, hardwares and clothing shops.
One shopper, who chose to remain anonymous said, ” The leaking sewers are a concern but closing down shops is affecting our economy badly.
“The EFF needs to follow proper channels in resolving this problems .”
Sekhukhune Times will keep updating its readers on this matter, as the situation is ongoing.
