Foundations and radio station reach out to needy girl learners
MATLALA LEHWELERE – Needy learners at Diphagane Secondary School in Ga-Matlala ‘A’ Lehwelere outside Marble Hall benefitted from the recent Thwadi & Molebogeng and Ntokozo foundations together with Moutse Community Radio Station’s (MCRS) donation of sanitary towels.
The partnership between the foundations and the radio station donated over 200 boxes of sanitary towels to the needy learners.
“Mmakgoshi Mohlala, Thwadi & Molebogeng Foundation Secretary, said that they honoured the visit to the school because young girls needed help.
Mohlala added that they believed that was a stage when teenage girls faced challenges that some did not understand.
“But as a community, as mothers, sisters and educators we have an obligation towards generations that come after us. Let us lend a hand to those in need and create an environment that gives teenage girls hope,” said Mohlala.
Rosette Matseke, MCRS Senior Administrator, said they were truly proud to partner with Thwadi & Molebogeng and Ntokozo foundations in the initiative to provide needy learners the sanitary towels that helped restore their dignity and confidence in the teaching and learning space.
Matseke added: “We are truly proud to create awareness about issues that teenage girls face on daily basis especially around rural areas where unemployment is rife. We also came to make sure that no child will miss class or fail to come to school because of sanitary towels. But most of all, to create a platform where kids at school can approach an educator for advice or assistance in any situation without fear.”
William Monama, Diphagane Secondary School Principal, said that he had no words to describe how he felt about the donation to the school by the partnership.
Monama said they were truly grateful to the sponsors, especially MCRS for choosing our school and bringing Thwadi & Molebogeng Foundation and Ntokozo Foundation to the party.
“We hope this generosity will go beyond Ga-Matlala and reach other needy communities,” concluded Monama.
