EMLM holds Lekgotla
GROBLERSDAL – Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality (EMLM) Mayor, David Tladi recently convened a two-day mayoral Lekgotla with the nine members of the mayoral committee to sketch out a progressive direction for the local municipality.
The meeting, which consisted of the entire senior management of the municipality, was aimed at taking stock of performance for the past two quarters since the beginning of the financial year in July 2021.
It sought to find a way forward in accelerating performance and service delivery and put a special focus on the mid-year budget and performance assessment report.
Opening the 2021/2022 mid-year performance Lekgotla, Mayor Tladi said the session should not only be a matter of compliance but should be the local municipality’s commitment to serve its communities by delivering basic services to them.
“I would like to call upon the political wing to play their oversight role by making sure that all departments conduct business and observe financial management in a proper way. As stated, we are going to strengthen our public participation mechanisms to make sure that our people are informed of what is taking place in our council.
Senior Managers are fully aware of the fact that performance is in tied targets, this fact must serve as a guiding tool that must be borne in mind whilst executing their responsibilities. We must meet targets while conforming to standard practices,” said Tladi.
The meeting was also expected to enable the leadership of the local municipality to address some key transitional issues and commence with the process of developing important programmes for its term of office.
