SDA status under assessment
GROBLERSDAL – Sekhukhune District Municipality (SDM) Executive Mayor, Stanley Ramaila recently met the board of directors of Sekhukhune Development Agency (SDA).
According to SDM the purpose of the meeting was to assess the status of the agency, including its sustainability plan for the next five years.
SDA is an entity established in 2010 in terms of the Company Act and the Municipal Systems Act and is wholly owned by the district municipality.
Executive Mayor Ramaila was flanked by Member of the Mayoral Committee responsible for Planning and Economic Development, Maleke Mokganyetji.
The entity has a mandate to attract investments and grow the economy of the Sekhukhune district to a desired state.
Ramaila, a representative of the sole shareholder, SDM, emphasized that it was about time the agency’s work began to benefit the people of Sekhukhune.
The SDA was established with the powers to partner with different role and to act as an engine of economic growth through diversifying and expanding the Sekhukhune district’s economic base.
The agency is expected to constantly be in the process of initiating, identifying and implementing high impact economic projects that create sustainable job opportunities.
Its target market is communities living in the villages, townships and towns within the Sekhukhune district.
It focuses on youth, women, small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs) and cooperatives with the potential to get involved in high economic impact projects and initiatives.
