Equipment worth R16 000 were stolen at Mascom

Masemola Community Radio Station (MASCOM FM) staff confirmed a case was opened at Masemola police station after unknown people studio equipment we stolen by an unknown person.
According to the staff stolen equipments include outside broadcasting machine and a tablet.
The incident happened on Sunday the 12th of December during the night.
The news reader at the staion, Ramushu Moeletsi, best known as “Kgomo Ya Moshate”, said, he was the last person to leave the station after presenting the late gospel night Sunday show.
Kgomo Ya Moshate said he locked the staion as usual when he left.
He said the person who stole the station equipments is familiar with the station as he used keys to unlock the building and take the items and lock afterwards.
“Whoever took our equipments knows our station very well. The funny thing is that stolen equipments were placed together with laptops, microphones and other station equipments,” said Kgomo Ya Moshate who believes the stolen items were targeted.
When asked who holds the station keys he said it’s him and the station manager Tshegofatso Mapheto.
Despite all eyes on the two key holders, the two believe the suspects stole the equipments to sabotage the station and to make it look like they stole the equipment.
“Even though it is only me and the station manager who hold the keys, we sometimes give our keys to the staff so they can open and lock, especially those who have morning and evening shows” he explained.
“If I have a lot of work sometimes, I take the outside broadcast machine to do promos and the adverts, but on Sunday I left everything at the station,” said Kgomo Ya Moshate.
Mapheto expressed his disbelieve saying that it is unfortunate because people are against community development.
“I thought Ramushu left with the machine but I was shocked when he said he left the machine at the studio,” said Mapheto.
“We don’t know what to say because the suspect didn’t break or damaged anything,” he said.
As it stands, the staff suspected the two former presenters.
They said forensic team took fingerprints and the outcomes are to be expected very soon.
