Foundation helps needy girls

MARBLE HALL – The Willy Seropana Music and Foundation Non-Profit Organization is committed to giving back to the communities, especially those in rural areas.

The founder of the organization, Seropana, who is also a musician, says the idea of giving back to the needy in communities came after he realized the support they gave him in his music venture.

Seropana said that support encouraged him to work together with communities to find ways in which he could help in matters affecting them.

Seropana says they have now started working together with secondary schools and have embarked on a programme to restore the dignity of a girl child through donation of sanitary towels.

He says that he is proud of the programme because he is the first artist in Sekhukhune who has managed to roll it out without sponsorship.

Seropana said he aims to expand to other areas and reach out to more girls in need because of the fact that many missed school days when they were on periods due to not being able to afford the towels.

Apart from sanitary towels drive, Seropana says he also motivate learners to believe in themselves so that they can realize their dreams despite their family challenges.

“Education should not be on pause because of periods. AT most schools I donated to, many of the learners are from informal settlements and disadvantaged backgrounds. Some are orphaned and raised by grandparents. I don’t want the young girls to go through this, stressed because they don’t have the means to deal with it,” said Seropana.

He called on businesses to join hands and help those in need, especially in rural and poverty stricken communities.
