A local teenager, Bafedile Mabelane, is a semi-finalist in Miss Capricorn District. The 18-year-old of Ga-Motodi is eager to compete for the crown.

She has previously participated in the Miss Ga-Motodi pageant as well as the Miss Burgersfort pageant.

Bafedile, who is currently studying at Burgersfort’s ABM College, said she is inspired by former Miss South Africa, Basetsana Khumalo.

“She inspires me in so many ways besides modelling. Through her Miss South Africa journey, I now know that being the first to do something says so much about an individual and how confident they are towards life. Her book titled My journey of hope has become a source of knowledge and a source of encouragement throughout my modelling career.”

Bafedile said she is a community youth leader who believes in the reality of dreams regardless of where one comes from. “I plead with our young dreamers from rural villages to understand that being the pride and beacon of your community means doing things different, fearlessly and being the positive change that one would love to see,” she added.

To vote for Bafedile to reach the finals of Miss Capricorn, SMS “QUEEN BAFEDILE MABELANE” to 47439. An SMS costs R3.
