Investigations of possible suicide continue at Mecklenburg Hospital
MOROKE
The Limpopo Department of Health is investigating an incident in which a woman was found hanging inside the ward toilets at Mecklenburg Hospital in the Sekhukhune District. The incident happened on Tuesday morning.
The woman was a mother lodger who was lodging at the hospital while her three months old baby was admitted at the hospital.
“It is understood that in the early hours of the morning, she told a fellow lodger that she was going to the bathroom.
“Later she was discovered hanging inside the toilet,” revealed departmental spokesman Neil Shikwambana.
He confirmed that the Mecklenburg SAPS were called to the scene and they are also conducting their own investigations.
The department has also organised counselling for the family members, staff and other mother lodgers who were with her prior to the incident.
The department has also send messages of condolences to the family.
