Robbers tie customers and staff with shoelaces

MARBLE HALL – Police in Marble Hall have arrested four men between the ages of 31 and 38 for business robbery last Friday at one of the businesses in town.

According to police the suspects approached the Ackermans clothing store with plans to commit a robbery that day.

Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, Limpopo Provincial Police Spokesperson, said one of the men produced a firearm and ordered the staff members at the store and customers to lie on the floor. The suspects then tied the staff members and customers with shoelaces.

Mojapelo said one of the bystanders saw the incident and immediately called the police who responded swiftly and found the suspects inside the store and arrested them.

“Police found in the possession of the suspects, a 9mm pistol with a serial number filled off, 11 rounds of ammunition, a network jammer, network jammer charger, bank card of victims, eight bags. A Hyundai I20 sedan and a Nissan bakkie were confiscated during the arrest of the suspects,” explained Mojapelo.

The suspects, Thabo Mogomane (38), Thabo Botsane (31), Chipane Masemola (38) and Lerato Khalane (38) appeared before the Groblersdal Magistrates Court on Monday and were remanded to custody until 20 July formal bail application.
